Let the clothes do the talking

, ,

Have you ever had one of those days when you just don’t have much to say?  That’s how I feel today as the cold weather takes away the sun so early lately.  Today I let my clothes do the talking and my accessories spoke for itself.

If they all could speak, my hooded jacket might say, “I want to be quiet today and just be the observer.”  And my accessories would say, “But I’m not unfriendly, so it’s okay if you want to approach me”.

I must say though, if you ever go to a place like your boyfriend’s work’s holiday party and do not know anyone, I advise wearing accessories.  It might sound weird, but nice accessories is actually a very good conversation starter.  Most likely another woman will approach you to tell you how pretty they look and where you got it from.  If she liked your accessories, you obviously have something in common to talk about and you won’t feel as weird around strangers.

Layering for the Fall season

, , , , , , , , ,

A day out in NYC with my friend, Milton.  Fall is one of my favorite season to layer my clothes.  It’s one of those times when I’m not quite ready to let go of summer, but still need to stay warm enough for the Fall breeze, so why not combine the two?

For the outerwear,  I have on my favorite Zara jacket on top of a loose short length Forever21 sweater.  Underneath, I have on a ruffle leopard print spaghetti strap top from Cache. (Leopard prints is such a must do for outfits this season).  My scarf is from Gap, jeans and shoes are from Forever21.

The key to good layering is, your colors and materials don’t always have to match.  If you’re unsure of the mix, take a picture of yourself in the mirror with the outfit on.  Pictures can say a million words.

Face as soft as a baby’s butt

I have been trying out the Olay Professional Pro X Advanced Cleaning System for about a week now and was hesitant to purchase it due to the price tag. I asked myself, what could a $30 cleansing system really do for me? Shouldn’t I be purchasing the Clarisonic; which cost $119? I mean if the Calrisonic cost more, it should work better right? Well maybe, but I gave in and end up purchasing the Olay Pro X instead of the Clarisonic. My reason was, “Why not try out a cheaper one before I spend money on something more expensive”. And so I bought it and my advice is, do not let the price tag fool you. Just because it’s cheaper doesn’t mean it doesn’t work just as well.

This systems worked so well on the very first day. I used it my Shisheido cleanser and I also tried it with my Clinique cleanser. You can use whatever brand you prefer, the point is really the cleaning system and using it everyday.

Now think about it okay, we use a toothbrush to clean plaque off our teeth, right? So why shouldn’t we also use a soft brush to clean off the daily dirty on our face that we can remove with bare hands? It makes perfect sense to me.

On the first day, I already saw the results. I have battled with over 10 years of oily face and after just the first use, my face is no longer oily through the whole day and the best part is, my face feels so soft and smooth like a baby’s butt. Don’t take my word for it, if you haven’t tried it, you need get it and I bet you will like it just as much as I do.

Accessorize It

Leather Jacket: Zara, Skirt: H&M, Leggings: DKNY, Bracelets:  Daily Accessory

When in doubt, accessorize.  It’s the little accents that completes an oufit.  I know that sometimes when I’m lazy I’ll just throw on a simple outfit with little patterns, add a couple of accessories and I’m good to go.

I feel like accessories are kind of like the garnishes on your food when you go out to eat.  It makes the food look so much more tastier.  The same goes for clothing.  At least that’s my opinion.  Do you accessorize often?

It’s all about the shoes

Caramel Heels from Forever21, Tan Oxford from Zara, Leopard Print Heels from Forever21

Okay, so here is my first post.  Living in New York City, I wasn’t always fond of high heels because it slowed me down from reaching my destination and a one block walk in this city can be a walk of pain.  But lately, I’ve been liking the way heels makes my little legs look more tone and long.  Standing only 5′ tall, heels do make a difference.
